Equipment

  • 1 Rolling Pin – To roll out the pizza dough into the desired thickness.
  • 1 Sharp Knife or Pizza Cutter – For shaping the dough into a heart and slicing the finished pizza.
  • 1 Baking Sheet or Pizza Stone – A baking sheet for versatility or a pizza stone for a crispy crust.
  • Parchment Paper – To prevent sticking and make transferring the pizza easier.
  • 1 Brush – For applying olive oil to the crust.
  • 1 Mixing Bowl – If making homemade dough or preparing toppings.
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons – For precise ingredient measurements.
  • 1 Spatula or Pizza Peel – For safely transferring the pizza to and from the oven.
  • Oven Mitts – To protect your hands when handling hot equipment.
  • 1 Cooling Rack (Optional) – To rest the pizza after baking to maintain a crisp crust.

Ingredients

  • 1 Pound Pizza dough
  • ½ Cup Pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ Cups Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Toppings of your choice (such as pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.)
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • Cornmeal or flour, for dusting

Instructions

  • If you're using store-bought pizza dough, remove it from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to relax. If you're making homemade pizza dough, follow the instructions below.
  • Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating to heat it up.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large heart shape, about 1/4 inch thick. You can use a rolling pin to help shape it, and gently pull and shape the dough to form a heart.
  • Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet or pizza peel lightly dusted with cornmeal or flour to prevent sticking.
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge for the crust.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
Add your desired toppings, arranging them evenly over the cheese.
  • If you're using a pizza stone, carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated stone using a pizza peel.
If you're baking on a baking sheet, place the sheet in the preheated oven.
Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  • Once the pizza is done baking, remove it from the oven.
Optionally, brush the crust with a little olive oil for added flavor and shine.
Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing.
Serve your heart-shaped pizza slices hot and enjoy with your Valentine!

Notes

Make Ahead and Storage

  • Make Ahead: Prepare the dough a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Let it come to room temperature before rolling out and shaping.
  • Storage: Leftover pizza can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place it in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 minutes to restore its crispy texture.
