Equipment

  • 1 Blender or Food Processor For blending the avocado and other ingredients into a smooth and creamy texture.
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons To measure the cocoa powder, sweetener, milk, and other ingredients accurately.
  • 1 Mixing Spatula For scraping down the sides of the blender or food processor to ensure everything is well-blended.
  • Serving Bowls or Ramekins For portioning and serving the mousse.
  • 1 Refrigerator To chill the mousse and allow it to set properly before serving.
  • 1 Knife and cutting board To slice the avocado and remove the pit safely.
  • 1 Sieve (Optional) If you want extra smooth mousse, you can pass the mixture through a fine mesh sieve.

Ingredients

  • 2 Ripe avocados (peeled, pitted, and scooped)
  • cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • cup Pure maple syrup (or honey for non-vegan option)
  • ¼ cup Almond milk (or any milk of choice)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp Sea salt
  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, chopped nuts, coconut flakes, or dark chocolate shavings

Instructions

Prepare the Avocados

  • Place the ripe avocado flesh into a blender or food processor. Ensure they’re perfectly ripe for a creamy texture.

Add the Ingredients

  • Add cocoa powder, maple syrup, almond milk, vanilla extract, and sea salt to the blender.

Blend Until Smooth

  • Blend the mixture until completely smooth and creamy. Stop occasionally to scrape down the sides of the blender to ensure all ingredients are well incorporated.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the mousse and adjust sweetness or cocoa level as needed. If you prefer a sweeter dessert, add a touch more maple syrup.

Chill the Mousse

  • Scoop the mousse into serving bowls or ramekins. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the mousse to firm up.

Garnish and Serve

  • Top with your favorite garnishes like fresh berries, chopped nuts, or a sprinkle of coconut flakes. Serve chilled and enjoy!

Make Ahead and Storage

Make Ahead:
This mousse is a fantastic make-ahead dessert. Prepare it up to 2 days in advance and store it in individual servings for a grab-and-go treat.
Storage:
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To maintain freshness, place plastic wrap directly on the surface of the mousse to prevent a skin from forming.
